How car parts are made – in a nutshell
A little known fact about car parts is that they are made in China.
The world’s biggest auto parts supplier to the United States, Ford Motor Co, has built some of its most iconic vehicles in the United Kingdom.
It is the home of the famous Plymouth Viper, which was used as a rallying car in the 1960s.

Its production lines are built in China, the world’s largest auto assembly market.
Most of Ford’s vehicles are produced in the UK, but the company also produces parts for the likes of Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
For decades, Ford has had a direct relationship with the UK government, which is why it is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the UK’s rebate.
This arrangement is set to expire in 2019, and Ford says it will now have to cut its manufacturing ties to the UK if it wants to remain competitive.
